Expedition Guide (Part-Time)

Escape Room Job Position Description:

Through empathy and expertise, our Expedition Guides create amazing experiences based on each guest’s individual needs and wants.

How Expedition Guides Serve Our Guests:

Expedition Guides play a key role in delivering a memorable experience for every guest. Specifically, we serve by:

• Opening and Closing the Store
  • Guides are responsible for opening and closing the store, ensuring a smooth operation before and after hours. Moreover, they also maintain a welcoming environment for all guests.
• Great and Welcome Guests
  • Guides enthusiastically greet every guest to set the tone for the adventure ahead. As a result, guests feel excited and ready to embark on their escape room journey.
• Creating a Fun Atmosphere
  • Guides ensure that every group, whether it’s 2 or 50 people, feels welcome, cared for, and excited for their upcoming adventure. For example, they may offer encouragement before and during the game.
• Explaining Games
  
  • Guides enthusiastically explain our escape room games to guests, ensuring they understand the rules before starting. This ensures that everyone is on the same page and ready to play.

How Guides Help With the Game Experience:

• Leading the Group
  • Guides lead groups of 2-12 guests, providing fun and friendly conversation throughout the experience. Furthermore, they monitor progress and help if needed.
• Making Connections
  • Guides actively collect information and build meaningful connections with guests. Consequently, they create a more personalized experience for each group.
• Using Software for Hints
  • Guides monitor games via software to give teams helpful hints as needed. In addition, they are ready to step in if any team needs assistance.

Post-Game Recap:

• Recapping the Experience
  • Guides give a detailed recap at the end of the experience, explaining any puzzles or clues that guests didn’t solve and walking them through the entire game, if applicable. As a result, guests leave with a better understanding of the experience.

Other Expedition Guide Duties:

• Demonstrating operational excellence by:
  • Ensuring game components function properly (maintenance)
  • Using walkthrough and reset sheets to accurately reset games
  • Cleaning games and the building
  • Restocking inventory
  • Completing necessary reports
  • Immediately and graciously resolving service failures
• Immediately and graciously resolving service failures
• Efficiently managing interactions in the lobby (running the front desk when needed) by:
  • Checking in teams
  • Answering the phone
  • Accurately making reservations
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Flexible year-round availability. This is not a seasonal job.
• This role often works nights, weekends, and /or holidays.
• If you are unavailable at all Friday through Sunday, then this job may not be for you.
• Must be 18 years of age or older
