Clues come over a screen within each escape room. There is a sound that plays, based on the theme of your room, so you’ll always know when a clue is on the screen. All clues are written out as text so it’s easy to see and read. In some cases, clues may be a picture that takes up the entire screen that may help you put something together or a little video hint that goes with the theme of the room.

We give clues based on when we think you need them. If we see you’re struggling with something or need a little push in the right direction, we’ll give you a hint. We never try to give you the answers to a puzzle since it’s more satisfying when you can figure it out on your own. If at any time we are giving you too many clues or not giving you enough, just talk to your Expedition Guide. They can hear and see everything you’re doing in the room so just let them know as all the clues are customized.

Many other escape rooms tend to limit the number of clues needed. Sometimes you’ll get three clues when you ask for them, and if you ask for any over three then you lose time off your escape. We personally don’t think that’s fair. We want everyone to have a fun time so we give you as many clues as you need to have fun.

The reason we give clues when we think is best is because (1) we know our rooms very well and (2) 90% of our players have never done an escape room before. This means that many groups would not know when to ask for a clue. They would either never ask and get stuck forever or they would ask every time they found something and never solve anything for themselves. If you’ve done a few escape rooms before and you want to ask for clues, no problem! Just let your Expedition Guide know. If we think you’re stuck, we’ll just give you a clue asking if it’s okay for us to give you a clue or help out. Then you can answer and proceed from there. Remember, we’ll only give you clues to get you back on the right track and help guide you through the room.

Our rooms tend to be on the harder side with the intent that we’ll help you with as many clues as you need. We just want everyone to have a great time no matter how much help they may need (and trust us, it’s okay, there are puzzles that some groups get and other groups just don’t understand). This allows us to have rooms that can be enjoyed by both first timers and seasoned groups. If we have a first timers, we’ll just help them out by providing more clues. On the other hand, if there’s a group of seasoned escapees, we’ll let them play through the room and not provide as many clues. Essentially, we can adjust the difficulty based on how many clues we give.

We’re very flexible and we just want you and your group to have a fun time while solving many of the puzzles on your own!
